Laptops may be checked out for in library use only. In order to check out a laptop, the borrower must be 18 years of age or older and have a SPL patron card in good standing (no fines/fees on account) and have had a SPL library card for at least 60 days. Borrower must leave a photo ID at the circulation desk to check out a laptop; ID will be returned at the time of laptop check-in.

Wireless Hotspots

Security Public Library cardholders can access free, unlimited high-speed internet from almost anywhere through our Wi-Fi hotspot lending program.

Portable hotspots allow library cardholders who do not have home internet access to easily get online from almost anywhere using a Wi-Fi-enabled device such as a phone, tablet or laptop. Hotspots are available to check out just like a book or DVD. You can also place them on hold in our catalog. Click here to reserve yours today! The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available for free at Security Public Library. Library card holders can access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films instantly. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. When a patron checks out a Simon and Schuster ebook from Cloud Library they will receive the message in the below image.

Please note that this is not a pop up but a regular page in the book. The book downloaded normally and is there.

The patron can swipe/click to the next page the same way they normally read an ebook.

Treat the page as if it were the title or copyright page and just keep swiping
